Types of Modern & Stylish Premium Shades

When hearing the word “shades,” many people often think of generic, store-bought window treatments; and while these options are an effective way to cover a window, Hunter Douglas offers several other types of modern and stylish premium shades, to consider for your home.

Sheers and Shadings

Hunter Douglas sheers and shadings combine sheer and opaque panels of fabric to create luxurious, yet functional, window treatments. For windows that open up and down, Silhouette® and Pirouette® shadings have horizontal vanes of fabric that can be adjusted to let in more or less light. When the vanes are open, the sheer panels gently diffuse natural light and protect your belongings from harmful UV rays.

Luminette® sheers beautifully cover wide expanses and sliding glass doors. Many of the fabrics available for Luminette® shades are also available for Silhouettes®, allowing you to have matching window treatments on every window and sliding glass door in your home.

Roman Shades

Roman shades are also a beautiful way to cover your windows with their soft, drapery-like folds. Vignette® Roman shades have 4-inch or 6-inch folds of fabric that can either gather at the top of the shade or roll onto a headrail when raised. They can also be hung vertically, with the folds of fabric gathering to the left or right. Our Solera® Soft Shades combine the look of roman and honeycomb shades with their fabric cells that gather when the window treatment is raised. Because of their cordless design Solera shades are also safe for homes with young children or pets.

Honeycomb Shades

Another great option for light control and energy efficiency are our Duette® Shades. The cellular construction of our Duette® shades enables them to prevent the cold, New York winter winds from entering your home, and keeps your heat and air-conditioning inside, drastically increasing the energy efficiency of your windows.

Sonnette™ cellular roller shades combine the energy efficiency of a honeycomb shade with the convenience of a roller shade. They are available in 48 different colors, ensuring you can find the right one for any room in your home. Like Solera Soft Shades, these window treatments are also cordless.

As with all of their products, all premium Hunter Douglas shades are made in the U.S. and come with a limited lifetime guarantee.
